Permanent Reference Electrode |
INTRODUCTION
Permanent Reference Electrode is
designed for long term permanent use to obtain accurate potential reading on buried
structures. It is the best underground installation on pipelines, tanks, or other
underground structures. In order to obtain the longest possible life, a Cu/CuSO4 element
is recommended to be used in low chloride soils (<500 ppm) while a Ag/AgCl element is
for high chloride soil (>500 ppm). |

SPECIFICATION
Housing: 10" x 3" dia.
Element type: saturated gelled
Cu/CuSO4 or Ag/AgCl
Design life: 15 and 30 years
life design to be selected
Shelf life: 1 year minimum

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Remove plastic shipping bag
before installation
Place reference electrode in
trench, adjacent and perpendicular to pipe, even with or below pipe center line
After reference electrode is
placed in trench, soak with minimum five gallons of potable water or pre-soak reference
electrode
Before installation
immediately after soaking reference electrode, backfill with native soil
Connect reference electrode
lead wire and pipe test lead wire to separate terminals in test box
Do not allow to freeze, install
below frost line and keep dry prior to installation
