Casing Insulators

Casing insulators are designed to support and electrically isolate a carrier pipe from its casing  in order prevent bi-metallic corrosion and also to protect carrier pipe coating from damage.   The insulators are available in various sizes from 3/4" to 48" and also in different materials such as molded polyethylene or steel to obtain higher durability.

APPLICATIONS

Casing insulators dialectically insulate gas, oil and water pipelines from casings to prevent corrosion. they also provide support to the pipeline and protect pipe coatings during installation.  To allow for sufficient lateral movement of the carrier pipe, the insulators should be installed with runners facing the sides or base of the casing.  

MODEL PE

High density (linear), injection molded polyethylene casing insulators provide positive insulation, high abrasion resistance and low coefficient of friction. They are available in sizes from 3/4" through 48" and larger.

• Ribbed inner surface prevents slippage and guards against coating damage.

• Molded from virgin polyethylene material.

• Lightweight for ease of handling and installation.

• Screwdriver only needed for installation.

Sizes 3/4" through 12" are made in two halves, while sizes 14" and larger are made in multiple segments. Special runner heights are available on 4", 6" and 8" insulators to facilitate their use for 2" as well as 4" and larger carrier-casing differentials. Special runner heights are available on 14" and larger insulators to facilitate their use for 4", 6" carrier-casing differentials. Casing insulators are available for both American and European standards.

MODEL A8 & A12

MODEL A8 - Steel casing insulator with an 8" wide steel band.

MODEL A12 - Steel casing insulator with a 12" wide steel band.

Any of the runners described in the next section may be used with the above casing insulators. Other runners are available on request. To order, indicate band width and type of runner desired. For example, a steel casing insulator with a 12" wide band (Al2) and 1"wide glass reinforced runners (G-1) would be ordered by indicating A12G-1.

Standard models include sizes 4" and larger, with 8" and 12" band widths to provide the optimum strength for every requirement.

Specially designed models include a nest of prefabricated casing insulators for use with multiple carrier casings, special centering insulators to improve the endurance of expandable type end seals and insulators with "high rise" runners for large diameter casings.

MODEL C8G-2 & C12G-2

MODEL C8G-2: Coated casing insulator with an 8" wide steel band and 2" wide glass reinforced runners.

MODEL C12G-2: Coated casing insulator with a 12" wide steel band and 2" wide glass reinforced runners. Only 2" wide glass reinforced runners are available on coated insulators.

To order, indicate band width and type of runner desired. For example, a steel casing insulator with a 12" wide steel band (Cl2) and 2" wide glass reinforced runners (G-2) would be ordered by indicating C12G-2.

1" wide glass reinforced plastic runner (G-1)

All plastic insulating runner 14 GA, hot rolled, pickled steel angles.  Lengths (standard): 8.5" (21.6 cm), 12.5" (31.8 cm) Effective heights: 1.070" & 1.700" (27.2 & 43.2 mm)

2" wide glass reinforced plastic runner (G-2)

2" wide glass reinforced plastic molded under high pressure. Lengths (standard): 7" & 11" (17.8, & 27.9 cm) Effective heights (all lengths) - 1.07" & 1.7"
